Review: Taka can’t stay away from Ginger. His very presence near Ginger is a danger to Ginger, but at least this way Taka can see the danger coming? Maybe the danger is Ginger. Ginger can’t keep away just as much as Taka can’t keep away. As a Dreamcatcher Taka can’t have much of a personal relationship unless it’s with another Dreamcatcher. When Ginger gets attacked by Spaga while he’s awake, Taka refuses to think about the relationship possibilities that open up to them. Something is going on in their area of Seattle, and it’s not good. Members of his team and his city need him, Taka needs to decide if this is a good time to take something for himself.
I both really like this series and at the same time find them vaguely lackluster. I like the world building, and even the concept of finding a soul mate you’re destined to be with. I can’t put my finger on what leaves me feeling a touch unsatisfied at the end.
I really enjoy the reader doesn’t know all that much about what’s going on. There’s a lot of loose ends and I have no idea if these things are going to come back or if they’re just loose bits of characterization meant to give me a whole picture. Is Ginger’s family history some kind of foreshadowing or a red herring? I don’t know and neither does Taka.
I do know I need to read the next book. The evil caster is still out there whether or not it’s who they all suspect, and the Dreamcatchers of Team 32 have a hostage stashed in a bedroom. Someone is either going to go bad, or someone is going to be the good person they’re meant to be. Either way it should be eventful.
